Line was real long, but worth the wait. Burger was amazing. Fried bologna sandwich was top-notch (though could have been more bologna, TBH). Cabbage salad was not for me. Cool vibe, with salt and pepper shakers glued to hot wheels cars. Will definitely come back next time I'm in NO.

Pretty cool experience and very cool space. It's small, and the line was long, but we had no trouble finding a table to sit it. We went for lunch at 1pm on a Friday and waited in line for about 30 min to order. A little too long for me but man the food is really damn good. The fried chicken pot pie is a crispy, flaky empanada filled with chicken. The buttermilk dipping sauce completes it. It may have been the best thing I had. The hogshead cheese taco was really tasty. The tortilla was so fresh. The little crispy strips on top were perfect. I wish it had more head cheese on it, or less toppings so the head cheese was really the star of the show, but u would have no problem going back and getting 3 of those as my meal. The collard greens melt is really unique. So many flavors. I liked it, my wife LOVED it. Definitely a must try sandwich in New Orleans. The bologna sandwich was what I loved more. The fresh bread, the rich duke's mayo, and sweet and spicy mustard, the salty bologna, and the crispy chips all come together to make a perfect sandwich. My wife loved the wedge salad. I can't do blue cheese so I didn't try it, she said it was very special. If you haven't been, I say it's worth the line. For reference, there were probably 35-40 people out the door when we arrived and it took 30 min. Once you get to the door, you're 5 people away from ordering. The menu is small so the food comes out quick. If you see 10 ppl standing outside, don't let that scare you off. It'll move fast.

Never had I gone to a restaurant with so much hype for it to have really met and exceeded expectations. I am no stranger to good sandwiches and that fried bologna sandwiches must really be one of the best in the country. When I go back to New Orleans this is the first place I am going to. I went on a weekday right at opening and dined in. My partner and I loved the eclectic, kitschy, 90s nostalgia vibe inside. We ordered at the counter (of note they do have a 4-5% service charge automatically applied) and food/drinks were brought out to our table. Service was friendly and expedient. The cocktails were both AMAZING and super well balanced. However, the sandwiches were the star. The fried bologna was amazing, which a perfect contrast between the rich fried bologna, the sweet-spicy-savory mustard, the fresh shredduce and the crunch of the potato chips and fluffy texas toast. The collard green melt was also very good, with complex flavor from the collard greens and freshness from the slaw, but we loved the fried bologna just a tiny bit more. The wedge salad was also good and complimented the sandwiches nicely. Overall a really stand out experience and probably the best overall restaurant we went to in NOLA.

Visited turkey and the wolf a few months ago. They just opened a location in Nashville which reminded me to go back and leave a review for their NOLA location. Ambiance was a vibey daytime sandwich dive bar - VERY busy on the day we went. Service was friendly. And food was solid as well. Will be back.

GOSH--this place has been on my restaurant bucket list since 2017. If I'm being completely honest, it was one of the main reasons I picked this spot for our mini-vacation. Priorities, right? Knowing its legendary status, I was determined to beat any crazy lines, so we got there 25 minutes before opening. Only about 10 folks were ahead of us, so I was feeling pretty smug. Once they opened, though, the line didn't let up--steady flow of people, but it seemed to move quickly. I was here for the bologna sandwich. THE bologna sandwich. It arrived, looking all golden and promising, and while it was good... I wanted more bologna! I needed a thick, unapologetic stack of it. Instead, there was too much honey mustard and not enough meat. Can you ask for double bologna? Is that a thing? Because I feel like that should be a thing. Now, the cabbage salad on the other hand WAS worth the hype--though, oddly, there was no actual hype about it. Hype given HERE in this review! You're welcome, future diners. We ordered a half salad, thinking we were just being sensible, but honestly, we could have easily demolished a full one. It had this perfect balance of crunch, tang, and umami--kinda reminded me of a Burmese tea leaf salad, if you're familiar with that concept. If you're not, just trust me: it's unexpectedly fantastic. So, to sum it up: next time, I'm getting double bologna and a FULL cabbage salad--because clearly, I now have my priorities straight.

This place looks so cool! There's something to look at everywhere! You go to the counter and order your food. They give you the cutest animal or dinosaur on a stick instead of a number for your table. This might be one of the best cheeseburgers I've ever had. Double stats then the bread is perfectly toasted. American cheese. Crinkle fries! I love crinkle fries especially when they're hot and fresh like these were. My husband loves cabbage and he says the salad is amazing!

Taste: 3.5 Creativity/Authenticity: 3.5 Atmosphere: 4 Service: 5 Bang for your buck: 4 I don't know if I should be offended that something I ate as a poor kid is selling for $15 at a busy trendy sandwich spot in NOLA! Heard a buzz about this spot, and I was in town for the Super Bowl so had to see what all the buzz was about! Got the fried bologna sandwich with fries. First love that they serve the fries with mayo, very southern. Now the sandwich itself was delicious, not the poor sandwich I grew up with, triple the size, shredded lettuce and a sweet sauce. The fries were bomb! Love the mayo. Overall decent sandwich, but i liked the fries better than the sandwich!? I'll have to try the collard greens melt next time! Thanks for the sandwich

This place is a temple to the sandwich and I am a worshipper. Anything they do that is between bread is gonna be good. We showed up right at opening on Saturday and it was great. Maybe ten people in line before us. The wait was not bad. What exceeded my expectations was the cabbage salad. So many textures and flavors. Going to try to recreate the dressing soon. The collard green melt and the bologna are must orders. Great service. Love the vibes and kitsch.

A stay in the Garden District also provided the opportunity to try out the great sandwiches at Turkey and the Wolf. We popped in at 11 on a Monday and there already was a bit of a line, however, despite the place being small and just opening, the staff worked through the line and the takeout orders pretty damn quickly, so do not be deterred, traveler. I can confirm that Turkey and the Wolf is really everything that you heard it was. A quirky, small, local, and fun sandwich shop nestled in the Garden District that like many of the bars and diners of old, is smothered in decor and tchotchkes from a bygone era (for TatW, its the 90's). Of course, I was greeted with the quandary of what to order as the small menu does pack a punch as all the options seem great, so I went with the staff's recommendation and opted for the fried bologna and The Wife ordered the mama tried burger. These are some damned amazing sandwiches and they live up to the hype, period. You're not going to find a more unique and indulgent sandwich than the fried bologna that has thin cut bologna, smothered in lettuce, mayo, cheese, and frickin' potato chips. It was as delicious as it was decadent. No regrets. The Wife's mama tried burger was also damned good and its one of the few burgers we've had where, despite having all sorts of nice sauces and toppings shoved together under a burger bun, it also stayed together. A work of artery clogging art. We really enjoyed our visit to the Garden District and we will make Turkey and the Wolf a regular stop for our future visits as we want to experience more of what these mad-scientist-sandwich-makers concoct.

Collard Green Melt. Do it. This is a casual eatery where you walk up to the counter, order your food, get a funny animal rather than a table number and your food comes to you as it's ready. I wanted everything that was available to me as a vegetarian. I ordered deviled eggs, fries for the table, the collard green melt, the in-cog-meato buffalo chik'n sandwich, and a Jack Daniels hot toddy (some of this was offered as a special that day). Everything was yummy but the collard green melt was the star to me. Tangy, a bit of spicy, creamy, and yummy. The fries were also good. My friends loved the bologna sandwich and fried pot pie. The deviled eggs were cool and the buffalo chik'n sandwich was cool but I wouldn't necessarily go back for those. The hot toddy was perfect for the 40 degree weather. Service was great and the place was clean. Thank you!
